Waterford...Results of the National Half-Marathon - Sun 7th Sept 2008

The National Half-Marathon this year was hosted by Waterford AC and I have to say, they made a fantastic job of it. The sports centre in Waterford city was the perfect location to base the race, they had loads of stewards on the roads and junctions, there were plenty of water stations out along the course and they had enough sandwiches afterwards to feed a small city in China ;o)
Well done lads, take a bow...

A total of 430 runners took part in this very competitive field. The course was over a slightly hilly course from Waterford City to the outskirts of Tramore and back again. A slightly tough but fair course. The winner of the race was Cillian O'Leary of Raheny Shamrock AC in a time of 67m 22s. The winner of the ladies race was Maria McCambridge of Dundrum South Dublin AC in a time of 77m 12s.
The winning mens team was West Waterford AC (shown above).....L to R...Raivis Zakis (3rd -68m 51s), Mareks Floroseks (5th - 69m 43s) and Sandis Bralitis (2nd - 68m 03s)
