Road Races in Munster over the Easter Weekend

Update Friday night, and added Broadford 10k.

There are at least nine races, over a very busy Easter weekend across Munster.

Friday 2nd April
Kerry......The
Good Friday Run takes place at 8pm in Killarney.
There was a press release from the organizers in a previous post.

Route: The race will start outside the Killarney Cathedral at 8.00pm Sharp. The route will follow along Missionary Road up past the Plaza Hotel, up to Market Cross which will be the finish line and the race will follow through two laps from the finish line. The route takes in High Street, St. Margaret’s Road, Port Road, Missionary Road and Main Street.
This event is being professionally timed by Red Tag Timing, and everyone receives a goody bag.
Entry is €20, which is a bit steep, but there is a fund-raising for Charity.
A special note from the organizers...

This year registration is available on the day at Feet First, 28 High Street, Killarney from 2pm to 7pm. Registration will NOT be taken after 7pm. Race starts at 8pm Sharp.

Saturday 3rd April
Kerry......The is a half marathon and 10k taking place at
Ballybunion.

NEWS UPDATE - 29th MARCH 2010 As of this Morning the amount of places for the 10K race is complete and we regretfully announce that we will no longer be taking registrations for the 10K event.

NEWS UPDATE - 2nd APRIL 2010 As of this Morning the amount of places for the Half Marathon is complete and we regretfully announce that we will no longer be taking registrations for the Half Marathon event.

Tipperary......The
Tipperary Novice "B" Road Championships takes place at 12noon at Moyne.

Sunday 4th April
Waterford......The
Alfie Hales & Adidas 4 Mile Spring Road Race, organized by Waterford AC takes place at 11am.
Registration is at the Waterford Museum of Treasures, The Quay up to 10:30am.

The course starts at Waterford Train Station and ends at the Regional Sports Centre, a route map can be viewed here.
Refreshments afterwards at the RSC.

Cork......The rescheduled
Belgooly AC 'Dick Copithorne' 4 Mile race takes place at 12noon. This is the ever popular St Stephen's Day race, which has recently attracted a huge entry.
Entry fee €10.00 - 50% of the entry will be donated to the Bowel Cancer Treatment Fund at C.U.H.
Entries taken at Belgooly G.A.A. Grounds from 9.30 a.m. to 11.45 a.m.
Open to all athletes, joggers, fun runners and walkers.

Clare......The Kilmurray Ibrickane/North Clare AC are hodling the 40th Anniversary 'Michael Egan' Memorial 4 mile road race and Fun Walk at
Quilty, Co. Clare

Entry fee €15, which is again a bit steep, but you get a tee-shirt.

Monday 5th April
Cork......There is a 10k race taking place at
Clonakilty in West Cork.
This is a charity event in aid of the two national schools in Clonakilty.
Registration will take place at the Quality hotel and leisure centre in Clonakilty.
Registration will open at 10am and close at 10:45 and a race start at 11 am sharp.
Entry is €10.

Cork......The annual Gneeveguilla AC 'Jack O'Keeffe' Boherbue-Kiskeam 4 mile road race takes place at 2pm.
Note: This is a point-to-point race, but a mini-bus was provided last year.
Entries will be taken at Kiskeam Community Centre from 12.30.

This will be preceded at 12 noon by a host of juvenile races and other for both boys and girls, at Kiskeam Village
Entry fee €15, which is again a bit steep, but you get a tee-shirt.

Clare......There is a 10k 'mini marathon' taking place at Broadford, Co. Clare, at 2pm, to to raise funds for Parish Projects and Raheen Community Hospital.

Broadford Co. Clare is located 13 Km North West
from Limerick City.The course is very challenging for the first 5 km with Hills and Valleys, leveling off to a more pleasant course for the remaining 5Km. Three Water Stops are available and at approx 5Km there will be Mars Bars and Orange Slices and Water Stop if the Athlete so requires. Toilet Facilities are also available at this stop as well.Refreshments are available after the Run. So why not join us on Easter Monday and have some fun! Registration Time 1:00 pm Registration Fee 20 Euro Starting Time 2:00 pm

15 Euro for a 4 miler , a bit steep !!! you can do some low key marathons across the water for the same price !!!
All this over pricing will ruin the sport ........
