Report from Clonmel AC.......
Kevin Maunsell wins Kilsheelan 10K..........In glorious weather the Kilsheelan 10k took place today with 187 participants starting. The pace was strong from the whistle as a trio of Clonmel AC athletes dictated the pace and they were Niall McCormack along with the Maunsell brothers, Kevin and William. These three athletes last clashed over the Clogheen 5k with the finishing order of Niall, William and Kevin, how were they going to fair out today?

As they approached Ballypatrick they reached 5k in 16 mins 9 secs. Then Kevin went to the front and put in a very strong sustained effort that eventually shook off both Niall and William and he kept that pace going all the way to the line to win in 31 mins 45 secs, fantastic running and setting a new course record by beating the old record of Patrick Hogan (Ferrybank) of 31:47 set in 2012. Then we had William Maunsell running well to finish 2nd in 31:51 and Niall McCormack 3rd in 32:38. David Ryan of Clonmel AC won the men’s over 40 award in 35:35 with Tom Bourke of Clonmel AC winning the over 45 award in 41:14 and Bernard Feery of Fethard winning the over 50 award in 38:59.

In the Ladies race Angela McCann of Clonmel AC went into the lead early on in the race and made every stride a winning one when coming home to win in 40 mins 23 secs with her training partner Siobhain McHugh 2nd in 40 mins 52 secs and Suzanne Shine of Clonmel AC 3rd in 43:56. Yvonne O Connor of Clonmel AC won the Ladies over 40 award in 46 mins 2 secs with Anna Byrne of Clonmel AC winning the Ladies over 45 award in 48:13 and Joan Guidera of Clonmel AC winning the Ladies over 50 award in 53:23.
