Notice: Moycarkey Coolcroo 5km road race, Tipperary - Fri 13th June 2025

The Moycarkey Coolcroo AC 5km road race in Littleton, Co Tipperary is coming up on Friday the 13th of June 2025.

The online entry fee is €15. The race HQ is at the Littleton Community Centre in Littleton. Entries will also be taken on the night. The race starts at 7:30pm.

From Moycarkey Coolcroo AC.... The 5K in Tipperary You Can’t Miss! Speed, atmosphere, and top-class course — this is a 5K you don’t want to miss. A fast, flat course, ideal race conditions and a warm welcome make it the perfect event for PB chasers and first-timers alike!

As can be seen from the map below, the village of Littleton is just off the M8 motorway so it's easy to get to.

...
The 5k course... The start line is about 1.5kms to the north-east of Littleton so allow time to get there from the village.

The race starts on the old N8 road from Cork to Dublin. Since the opening of the motorway, it is now a wide and reasonably quiet road.

The width of the road and the fact that it's pretty much dead straight will allow the field to thin out nicely in the first mile / 1.5kms.

Once the runners enter Littleton, they take the second left and go onto quiet rural roads. After two more junctions, the course loops around returns to Littleton.

The variation in elevation for the 5k course is no more than 10m so it should be a fast course.

Big jump in numbers for the 2025 Limerick Marathon event...

The 2025 edition of the Great Limerick Run was held on Sunday 4th of May and it saw a  remarkable jump in numbers. Between all the different events, approximately 14,000 people took part.

If you factor in accommodation, meals and drinks, it's a big boost to the hospitality sector in the city.

Marathon... The full marathon saw 1554 participants cross the finish line, a jump of 34% on the figure for 2024.

While it might be normal to see a small number jump 34%, it's remarkable to see a well established race with over 1000 runners jump  by that much.

Half-Marathon... The Half was even more impressive with 4586 finishers, a jump of 40%!

With those kind of numbers, Limerick is now one of the premier half-marathons in the country.

6-Mile... The numbers for the 6-mile are always amazing and are a real cash cow for an event like this. This year, it had 7441 finishers, a jump of 24% on last year.

There was also a marathon relay event with 129 teams which added another few hundred to the numbers.

In conclusion... It's my understanding that the Great Limerick Run is organised by a commercial company on behalf of Limerick City Council. Looking at the numbers, they're doing a great job of attracting visitors to the Treaty City.
