Directions
Kilteely is in East Limerick. It’s not far from where the Bilboa 10k was held. It's on the other side of the N24 Limerick to Tipperary road …just 4km from the N24 exit to the start line so easy enough to get to even if travelling up from Cork via the main roads. There will be plenty of signage from the main roads.
The race organizer have an excellent map. Just zoom-out to see the general location.
One of the quickest ways out of Cork City on a Friday evening, would be to head up the M8 Motorway, pay the toll, and go straight to J10, at Cahir (North), and go left onto the N24.
We've received the following from update from Michael Herlihy :-
Kilteely Community Festival 5 Mile Road Race and Walk
"Next Friday 20th August at 8pm the Kilteely Festival road race and walk will take place and this year there is expected to be a large increase in numbers attending the event in East Limerick. This is the 6th event in the Ballyhoura ACTIVE Summer series of road races and walks. At each event in the series so far the numbers have been increasing and this is likely to continue at this race with the extra attraction of the festival weekend in the local community. Runners and walkers alike will also be attracted by the quiet country roads and scenic surroundings along the 5 mile course which the route will follow.
Entry to the race is on the evening of the race from 6p.m. to 7.45p.m. with a 10 Euro charge for runners and just 5 Euro for Walkers. The entries are taken near the start of the race from An Teach Community Centre, Cloverfield which is just 4km from the N24 main Limerick to Tipperary road. There will be signs from the N24 road near Pallasgreen to Cloverfield directing people unfamiliar with the area. For anyone seeking further information about the race, please contact Michael Herlihy of Ballyhoura Failte on 086 3168954 or search www.ballyhouracountry.com for the Kilteely festival road race. Alternatively email Michael on mherlihy@ballyhoura.org This road race and walk is organised in conjunction with Ballyhoura to encourage physical activity and tourism in the area so all are welcome from far and near!"
Also please note that while this race is at 8pm, the next & final race, the Liscarroll 10k will now be at the earlier time of 7.30pm
