There are no shortage of races in Munster this weekend....
Friday 22nd.........
Waterford........There is a 10km road race in Butlerstown in Waterford starting at 7:00pm.
Details.........Race number two in this years Ger Wyley/Nike summer series of road races, The Butlerstown 10 k starting at 7.00 PM.(PLEASE NOTE EARLIER STARTING TIME) with entries taken at the Butlerstown G.A.A. centre. Entry fee for this race is 10 Euro. All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Waterford Alzheimer's society of Ireland. The Butlerstown race which is organised by Pat Hennessey of Kilmeaden is always a popular event and the numbers have blossomed over the years with another big turn out expected this Friday evening. The new by pass road circuit which was introduced a couple of years ago will be used again this year and it is a three lap loop, Presentation of prizes and refreshments will be available at the Ramada Hotel on the Cork Road after the event.
Kerry.........The Good Friday Run 5 Mile race takes place in Killarney at 7:30pm.
Details below...
The Good Friday Run takes place on the 22nd of April 2011. The race will start at 7.30pm sharp. Entry will be available on the evening of the race from 4.30 to 6.45. This race is chip timed and entry after this time is not available. The fee for this race is €20. The Race Headquarters will be the Kerry Parents and Friends Building near the Catherdral. The race has an A.A.I. permit and will be measured using a Jones Counter. For more info, contact Catriona on 087 2851266 or 064 6627422.
Saturday 23rd...
Kerry......There is a 10k and a half-marathon in Ballybunion. Info on the event website.
Kerry.......The charity Jack & Jill 10k will take place in Kenmare at 3pm. Entry is €30. More details HERE
Sunday 24th.....
Waterford.......Waterford AC have a 4 mile this coming Sunday at 12:15pm starting beside the railway station. Pre-registration, at €10, closes in Alfie Hale sports shop in the city at 5:00pm on Saturday but entries can still be taken on the day for €12 in the Granary from 10:30am to 12:00pm. The race finishes on the track at the RSC with tea and cakes upstairs at the RSC after and Prize giving trackside at 2:00pm.
Monday 25th.....
There are 4 races on the Monday. 2 are in Cork......more details on the Running in Cork blog
Clare......Ennis 4C Challenge......A 10km and 10 mile race start in Ennis at 10am. Proceeds in aid of the Clare Crusaders. More details on the race website.
Wexford.....For anyone in the east of the province, this might be of interest. Wexford Tri-Club are organising a 10k in Rosslare. Entry on the day €20. It starts at 11am.
The Good Friday Run is 5 miles.

ReplyDeleteJust a word of caution. I ran the Ballybunion half marathon last year, it was not a half marathon it was short by about 150 to 200m. Also the price of entry is the same as last year which was meant to include food after but it didn’t. Be very careful about entering this event, it’s another money making racket. The organizers of the event even charged €5.00 for soup on the day.
