Clare...Results of the Sixmilebridge 10k - Fri 18th May 2012

There was a huge turnout of 353 runners for this 10k race in Sixmilebridge in Co.Clare. Building on the success of last year, the Bridge Milers managed to increase the numbers by an impressive 34% this year.

The mens race was won by Sergiu Ciobanu of Clonliffe Harriers in a time of 30:33. As a special incentive for the night, the organisers has increased the first place prize to €400 for anyone beating   31:31 (This was one of Neil Cusack's 10k split times when he won the Boston Marathon in 1974). As Sergiu was almost a full minute ahead, he wins the €400 prize!

The second man home was Michael Shannon of Kilnaboy AC in 31:59 while Michael Herlihy of North Cork AC was third in 32:08.

In the womens race, Sharon Rynne of Kilmurry Ibrickane AC was first in 38:50. Veronica Colleran of Ennis Track Club was second in 39:42 while Cushla Bríd Hehir also of Ennis Track Club was third in 40:07.
