Report from the organisers Clonmel AC.....Sunshine greeted the 350 plus athletes who participated in the Annerville 10K in Clonmel. There was a great buzz of excitement around the Race Headquarters at the Vocational School, the Mall from 1pm onwards. Even the slight drizzle that can at 1.45pm didn't deter the enthusiasm. Right on cue the athletes assembled at the starting line and proceedings got underway just after 2pm.
Right from the start the early pace was dictated by Niall McCormack of Clonmel and the winner Sergio Ciobanu of Clonliffe Harriers. These two went at a good pace reaching 2K in 6 mins 6 secs and 4K in 12 mins 32 secs. At this stage Sergio had a slight lead over Niall while the chasing pack was led by Danny Smith (Ballynonty), Shane Mullaney (Thurles Crokes) and David Ryan (Clonmel). As they reached Bulmers Roundabout Sergio had a good lead and was full of running as he reached 6K in 19 mins 16 secs and 8K in 12 mins 48 secs. He kept that pace going all the way to win in 32 mins 19 secs brilliant running in conditions that were sunny but blustery. Then we had Niall McCormack also running very well when holding off a later determined bid by Danny Smith to finish 2nd in 33 mins 30 secs with Danny 9 secs adrift, great running.
