Conditions were ideal for running last night and we saw some very good performances throughout the race. Nigel O Flaherty (The Runner Bandits) dipped under 14 mins for the distance for the very first time when running a great race to win in 13 mins 58 secs, Brilliant performance. Then we had Colm Ryan (Run for Wine) 2nd in 14 mins 21 secs with Jimmy Boland (Run for Wine) 3rd in 14 mins 27 secs.
The top three women were Angela Walsh (Team Green) 16 mins 28 secs, 2nd Anne Marie Boland (Run for Wine) 16 mins 27 secs and 3rd Nicola O Mahoney (The Runner Bandits) 16 mins 57 secs.
Last night’s race format was Lucky Dip and the 5 Lucky winners were Tom Hogan 16 mins 19 secs, Anna Byrne 17 mins 18 secs, Trish Kearney 20 mins 35 secs, Jessica O Shea 21 mins 59 secs and Jean Butler 26 mins 44 secs.
The Club would like to thank the brothers of Charity for the use of their car park as race Headquarters and it would also like to thank everyone who helped to make this race and indeed the whole series such a brilliant success.
Athletes will now have a few weeks to keep their training going for our next series, the Morrison BMW 6K, which gets underway on Wednesday 23rd March with the Practise run. Now is the time to be organising your team of 5 athletes for this very popular series of races, which last year attracted entry of over 300 athletes each night.
As regards teams, don’t forget to get your team of 5 athletes in for our very successful South Tipp Physio 500K team Challenge, you have until the end of February. Any athlete who doesn’t have a team, contact Niall and we will put you on a team, the more the merrier
