This 5 km road race in South Tipperary is coming up on Thursday, the 1st of August 2019. Located centrally to the towns of Mitchelstown, Cahir and Clonmel, this race should be of interest to a lot of runners.

Against the backdrop of the Knockmealdown  Mountains, it's a lovely spot for a race.

Notice : Ballynonty 10 mile road race, Tipperary - Sun 28th July 2019

This 10 mile road race is coming up on Sunday the 28th of July 2019 at 11am. It could probably be best described as a 'back to basics, no frills' 10 mile road race.

There is no chip timing, no dry fit tops, no medals, no online entries, no early bird entry, no late bird entry, no goodie bags or any of the other stuff. Just a good quality old fashioned 10 mile road race over an accurately measured course for a very modest price with a great spread afterwards.


The village of Ballynonty is in South Tipperary and is just a few miles off the M8 motorway.

Notice: An Riocht AC 5k Series, Castleisland Co.Kerry - Aug & Sept 2019

This Autumn 5 km race series is coming up in Caslteisland, Co.Kerry on three Friday evenings in August & September 2019. The entry fee is €8 for each race or €20 for the series.

Notice - Clonmel Half-Marathon, Tipperary ... Sun 25th Aug 2019

The Clonmel Half-Marathon is coming up on Sunday the 25th of August 2019 and there is an entry limit this year of 1,000 runners. Since it first started back in 2010, it has grown in popularity every year and if you are interested then you should enter as soon as possible.

Update : Wed 24th July ...Please note that there are only 25 spaces left!

The standard entry fee is €40 and that includes a dry fit top.

Conditions were almost perfect for this years Run Killarney Half-Marathon & 10k as almost 2,500 runners took part.

The overnight rain had cleared by early morning and the 13.1 mile run from Moll's Gap down to Killarney was really spectacular this year with some great views of the surrounding mountains and the valleys below.

Notice : Curraghchase 10km charity run/walk in Co Limerick - Sun 11th Aug 2019

This scenic charity 10k through Curraghchase Forest Park in Co Limerick is coming up on Sunday the 11th of August 2019 at 11am.

From the organisers.......Whether you are an enthusiastic runner looking for a challenge or looking for a walk through some of Munsters most stunning scenery, then the Curraghchase 10km has it all.

Now in its 8th year, the Curraghchase 10km Run/Walk is being held on the 11th of August 2019 in conjunction with TLC4CF.

The Curraghchase 10Km Run/ Walk will be staged through the picturesque woodland area of Curraghchase Forest Park and around the former residence of famous Irish poet Aubrey de Vere.

While the 5 mile numbers dropped this year from 135 to 115, the 5k numbers jumped from 57 to 88. The overall effect was that the total numbers went from 192 last year to 203 this year.

Tipperary : Results of the Coillte 10k in Dundrum - Wed 3rd July 2019

Looking through the results for this race, the one thing that stands out are all the fast times. There are plenty of 10k races around the country that get large fields but most of the top times are pretty slow.

A quick glance at the Coliitle 10k results shows the top 5 men were under 32 minutes and the top 3 women were under 38 minutes.

In terms of a quality 10k field, this has to be one of the best races in Munster.

This popular 10k race in coming up in the village of Dundrum, Co.Tipperary on Wednesday the 3rd of July 2019. In terms of fast 10k courses, this must surely be one of the fastest in Munster if not the country.

Dundrum is a small village just 9 miles or so west of Cashel in the south of Tipperary...

Organised by Dundrum Athletic Club, this race is noted for being a flat fast course. As well of there being no hills, the course consists of multiple long straight sections rather than the more usual twists and turns. I've previewed many courses on this site but this one is really fast.

Entries......The entry fee is €15 on the night.

The map below shows where everything is. For spectators...note the points A, B and C. If you move between these points which are just over 100m apart you can see the athletes at approx. 0.25miles , 2.4miles, 3.2miles and again at 5.4miles.

Course Preview......The 10k course is essentially two laps of a 5k loop. A full preview of the course with maps, description, photos, etc can be seen HERE

Many races have different traditions. Some give out t-shirts, some mugs. In the case of the Coillte 10k, they give out a quality embroidered hand towel given to every finisher. and they have been doing this for over 20 years. Even on years where they had run out of towels on the night, they hand delivered them to these people in the following weeks.

The Tim Crowe Trophy is presented on the night to the first Tipperary Athlete in honour of his 24 national titles won in the early 1900s, who was from the village of Dundrum.
