From the organisers...On a beautiful day and on a scenic route Over 300 participants entered and took part in the killarney10mile last Saturday 26th of September for its second year. Participants from all over Ireland, from as far  flung places as Minnesota, Indiana, Canada, Japan, UK  joined the Kerry folk for a successful well marshalled 10mile.

Kerry hospitality in St.Brendans college in the refectory beneath the Monsignor Hugh o'Flaherty building was well received. Thanks to sponsors Tricel and centra(at the reeks) all money generated from the event contributes to (the track fund)  at the schools' and community track project at St.Brendans college Killarney. The event is hosted by (South/East kerry  track group)and (Killarney Valley AC ),with race director (Alan Ryan of the Hardman triathlon) giving time voluntarily for a great local and sports initiative.

With 2000 students and kerry parents and friends only 100m to the proposed facility with an astro pitch, athletics track and outdoor basketball court, local young athletes from the area are hopeful of grant aid success and grateful to all of those who supported and took part!

This year's special guest Olive Loughnane(former world 20k walk champion 2009)was brought upto speed with the project and was on had to present the prizes on the day.

Next year's date is Saturday 24th of September as the group aim to build on this year's event!A fine sum was raised towards the project thanks to all and particularly to the athletes, runners and walkers.
