The main event next weekend in Munster is of course the Ballycotton 10 Mile Road Race in East Cork. This is pre-entry only and full details on the race are covered are on the Running in Cork website.
Sat 5th Mar 2011....On the Saturday, there are a choice of 2 races....one in Kerry, one in Waterford.
Kerry......Gneeveguilla AC are holding the 2nd of 4 races in their spring 5 km series. This will start in Killarney at 11am.

This series is open to all runners, joggers and walkers.
Dates: 5th, 12th & 19th March.
Race start time: 11am
Distance: 5km
Registration: 10am in Kerry Parents & Friends (Old Monastery), Port Road, Killarney
Entry fee: 5 euro per race
Location: Race takes place within the national park. Similar route to the first race of the Feet First series, but with a different start point.(Starting within the park, at Killarney House)
Requirement: 3 out of the 4 races must be completed to qualify for a prize.
Also perpetual cup for both the winning male (Daniel O'Connell cup) & female (Nora Brosnan cup) of the series.
Directions to the start if you are coming from the Cork side of Killarney...
Coming from Cork, go straight through the first roundabout (at Dalys supervalu), straight through the next roundabout (Tralee rd roundabout), at the next roundabout, take the left for the town centre, which is the second road off this roundabout(straight on at this roundabout is Killorglin), you are now on Port rd. Go straight down this road and just beyond the road to the left and before the traffic lights is Kerry Parents & Friends building.
Waterford...Waterford I.T.A.C 6km Road Race...Saturday March 5th 2011
The Waterford I.T/W.A.C - 6km Road Race will take place on Saturday March 5th starting at 2pm. The event is open to walkers, Joggers & Runners. The Road Race hosted by Waterford I.T Athletics club will take place in the New Carriganore sports campus of Waterford I.T.
The Waterford I.T 6km Road Race is hosted in conjunction with Waterford Athletic Club
There is a €1500 prize fund with €200 for the overall winner & prizes for the First 3 Men &Women, 1st Masters men over 40/45/50/55 & Masters Women 35/40/45/50. Also prizes for first men &women’s teams with 3 to score along with prizes for top 6 junior boys and girls.
The Waterford I.T/W.A.C 6km Road Race is an AAI permit race and Chip timing so it is a great opportunity to achieve and official Personal Best time at the new State of the art facility in Carriganore.
Entry fee on the day is only €12 and goodie bags for first 300 finishers. Advanced entry is also available for €10 at W.A.C winter league every Thursday night at the Regional Sports Centre in Waterford City from 6.30. Also all finishers will be entered into a draw with more than 50 prizes up for grabs. Tea, Coffee & Sandwiches will be provided after the race during presentation of prizes.
