Very well organised and stewarded event. Well done Clonmel A.C. Will be back again next year.
I found it a well-run event and will almost certainly return next year.
The course was reasonably challenging, particularly the 1.5 mile drag up from Convent Road to the bypass roundabout that starts just before mile 10. However, right after there is a chance for a fast finish over the last 1.8 miles, which is very slightly downhill.
There was a great spread of food in the Institute for finishers - tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes galore. Plenty of food and drinks at the finish line also - Yops, juices, bananas, sweets, etc. T-shirt is a love or hate affair - I love the bright orange, which will be hard to miss in the winter evenings to come.
A really well run event with plenty of stewards, food, water stations etc. I found it a pretty fair course that was predominantly flat. There were a few gradual inclines but no real hill of note. A nice fast finish which is always welcome!! The goody bag including medal and T-shirt was as good as any race I have run and better than the vast majority of them. Thanks to the physios too for the free post race rub down. I will definitely come back next year!! Well done to all concerned
Really enjoyed the course, a few challenges along the way but nothing we couldn't handle. Excellently stewarded. Loved the spread laid on straight after the finish line, innocent smoothies!! yops, juices etc. Thought it was expensive enough. I know it was €25 before a certain date but I was injured and wasn't sure I'd run it. When I did decide to enter on-line there was a €2.25 processing fee so it cost me €37.25!!!It's a pity that they ran out of t-shirt sizes abd only had small left. That could be because all the stewards, car-park attendants, people giving out the water and all the ladies doing the teas had been given t-shirts before the race began. Of course it's nice to reward volunteers but could they not have waited til the end when all the runners who had paid for, and floogged the roads, to earn the t-shirts got theirs?? Then they could have given out the leftover t-shirts to helpers. Still, I really enjoyed the event and would do it again.
Excellent race even if the course was a bit challenging. They obviously learned a few lessons from last year. Loads of water, juices and smoothies at the finish line which was a nice touch and the t-shirt is a big improvement on last year.
better than the shambles of last year. they even managed to have it the correct distance this year,,
I run a lot of half marathons/races throughout munster and I have to say that this was one of the best organized that i have been at. Very well stewarded, bottles at water stops, lovely tee shirt, medal, good course, refreshments etc. I could go on. It was clear the organization and effort that went into the organization with no expense spared. Well done to all involved in the organiztion and I will def be back next year and would highly recommend it.
After last year’s mess with the distance I had second thoughts about running this again this year but as the race is run by an athletic club and mistakes happen I decided to run this. I have to say it was a great event. I found the new hall for collecting number fantastic. Plenty of parking. Afterwards there was plenty of food and a good atmosphere. The course itself is a good course. It is a tough start but once off the main road there are some lovely country roads to run. It reminded me a little bit of the Dungarvin 10 mile. Mile 10 to 11 was a killer for me but from 11.5 to the end is fast. The smoothies at the end were great. On what could be improved is the road signs leading the cars into the town. I had a tour of Clonmel. A bit bigger would help. Thanks and see you next year.
Really well orgainised race. My only complaint would be the price increase from 25euro to 35euro after the 7th August. I know a lot of races around the country use this tactic but I just can't see the logic behind it. Surely the same entry fee all the way up to the race day would attract a bigger field.
