Tipperary...Results of the Clonmel AC 6k road race - Wed 19th Apr 2017

The final race in the Morrison Mini Cahir 6k series was held in Clonmel on Wednesday the 19th of April 2017 and attracted a field of 173 runners.

No timing devices were allowed for the race as runners had to guess their finish time in advance.

From Clonmel AC.......Great finish to the Morrison Mini 6k Series

The final race of this year’s Morrison Mini 6K Road race series took place in ideal conditions last night. Once again we had some very good performances throughout the race. The race was won by Joey Feery (Boston Scientific) in 22 mins 7 secs; Bernard Durand of Panda Carpets was 2nd in 22 mins 53 secs with Ian Purcell of IP Physical Therapy 3rd in 22 mins 58 secs. 

The first three women were 1st Kealey Tideswell of Fun Runners in 24 mins 18 secs, Grainne O Callaghan (South Tipp Physios) 2nd in 24 mins 21 secs and 3rd Suzanne Shine of Pedal to the Mettle in 24 mins 31 secs.

At the Presentation of the Awards in Mulcahy’s last night the Club chairperson, Nicola Maunsell thanked Gary Morrison of Morrison Mini for sponsoring this successful series of races and she also thanked Mulcahy’s Clonmel for providing light refreshments. She also thanked the team Captains and everyone who helped to make this series of races such a success. She also thanked the Garda and the Order of Malta for all their help as well as our many stewards who ensured the event was safely promoted. The Club would also like to thank Colaiste Cheitinn and the Loreto Convent for the use of their fine facilities for our series of races.

The Club has two more promotions over the coming weeks. On next Wednesday all roads lead to Cahir for the very popular Cahir RUN4FUN 4 mile sponsored by Morrison Motors and promoted by the Club. The race starts at 7.30pm with registrations taking place in Morrison Motors from 6pm onwards. Over the years we have had a brilliant entry for this event of between 350 and 400 athletes taking part. This year the named Charity is the South Tipp Hospice, a very worthy cause and the more athletes, joggers, walkers that take part next Wednesday night, the more funds will be donated to this worthy cause.
