Kerry...Results of the Milltown 10k mini-marathon - Sun 25th Aug 2013

A total of 104 people took part in this year's Milltown 10k mini-marathon on Sunday the 25th of August 2013, a drop of about 11% on last years figure of 117.

Race notice...Milltown 10k mini-marathon - Sun 26th Aug 2012

This 10k race is coming up on Sunday, the 26th of August 2011 in Milltown, Co.Kerry

Milltown is within easy reach of most of the large towns in Kerry including Killarney, Tralee and Killorglin.

Registration is at the local Community Hall which is just off the main street.
Athletics Ireland race licence via Gneeveguilla AC.

Race Information...
1. Registration takes place in Milltown Community Hall from 11am to 12.45 pm sharp. You will be given your race number and safety pins.
2. PLEASE WEAR YOUR NUMBER ON YOUR FRONT AS YOUR TIME WILL NOT BE RECORDED OTHERWISE. Please do not leave valuables in the hall. Any bags left in hall are done so at owners own risk. No pets.
3. Participants must be 18 years or older on race day.
4. Registration is €12.
5. Race start at Ballyoughtra out the Killarney Road, participants are advise to allow sufficient time to reach the start line which is approximately one kilometre from the hall. Parking is provided near the race start if required. The race finishes in Spout Lane near Milltown Community Hall. Participants are ask to run on the left hand side of the road as this will ensure participant safety as road in Not closed and all turns to the left bar the first one.
6. Race starts at 1pm sharp.
7. Route is marked in kilometres
8. Water stations will be provided at the 3 and 6 km marks approximately.
9. Please use bins provided for water bottles approximately 500 meters after the water stations.
10. All participants will receive a finisher’s medal
11. Refreshments will be provided in the hall after the race

Course........The start is 1km from the hall on the R563 road to Killarney. From there, you run back into the town, do a small loop and then head south into the countryside. Just after 6 kms, you join the Killarney road again and you have a fast downhill run to the finish line near the community hall.

Kerry...Results of the Milltown 10k race - Sun 28th Aug 2011

Looks like there was a pretty good turnout for this 10k race in Kerry with 85 runners taking part.....(the 5k race in Killarney the previous weekend got 63 runners).
The winner of the mens race by a clear margin was Ed Murphy of Gneeveguilla AC in a time of 33:18. In the womens race, Maria McCarthy won in a time of 38:05 and finished 10th overall.

Refreshments will be served in the hall after the race...tea, sandwiches and home baking, Parking available outside the hall, church car park and also a car park near the start line. The prize categories are overall 1st 2nd and 3rd (ladies and men) also O35's and O50's. Also slightly more unusual categories of "first local home" and "best dressed" also up for grabs!!
