Notice... MMRA 10km Race on Slievenamon, Tipperary - Sun 8th Apr 2018

This 10km trail race near Clonmel is coming up on Slievenamon the 8th of April 2018 and it also doubles up as a trial for the Irish team for the European Championships. It is also the 8th race in the Munster Winter/Spring League 2018.

 
 Slievenamon is located to the north-east of Clonmel and the nearest village is Kilcash.

CALLING ALL RUNNERS !!!
Would you like to represent Ireland in the European Mountain Running Championships this year?

Trial Race: This race is open to all IMRA members (€10 per year). Please note you cannot purchase Membership on the day, this must be done through www.imra.ie. Race fee can be paid on day or online.  Selection will be based upon form at trial as well as other factors.
Seniors will run a 10km up and down course.
Juniors will run a 5km up and down course.
The trial follows IMRA race rules and all competitors MUST carry a rain jacket. Also race numbers MUST be visible at finish line (worn). Trail runners are strongly advised as surface will be slick if there is moisture.

Europeans: Euro Championships are on the 1st of July in Skopje, Macedonia. Please keep a watch on imra.ie and MMRA facebook for follow up information.

Criteria of Selection: Selection will be carried out on the following basis.

1. Performance in any trial race held by the association. Target times will be set for trial races, those runners completing the race quicker than this time will be considered for selection according to the order they finish. Runners will be considered for selection in order of their finishing position on the day, with those finishing 1st being considered 1st for selection. Achieving the target time is not a guarantee of selection.
Where no runners complete the race within the target time the selection committee may, at their discretion, select athletes who ran the trial in order to complete a team, develop promising newcomers to hill running or account for particularly tough weather or course conditions on the day of the trial.
2. Performance in alternative races to the trial race will be considered only where the athlete has contacted the selectors in advance, via email to selection@imra.ie, to inform them of their inability to attend the trial race and agreed with the selection committee an alternative race to be used to judge form at the time of the trial race.
3. In all circumstances the selection committee will have the option to select full teams, individual athletes or no athletes for a championship. When making final selections the selection committee will consider the panel of runners available, the financial backing available to support any athletes that may qualify for selection and the potential for success of a team made up from the available runners. Only when the funding is available and athletes of sufficient standard are available will individuals or teams be selected.

Notice...MMRA Tonevane 7.6km Trail Run nr Tralee - Sun 11th Feb 2018

The next event on the MMRA calendar is a 7.6km trail race near Tralee, Co.Kerry. This is the third race in the Munster Mountain Running Association Winter-Spring League 2018.

From the MMRA...A new route on the 2018 MMRA calendar, this is a 7.6km run along the trails at the eastern end of the Slieve Mish Mountains just outside Tralee. The run has an elevation gain of 250m which will give you nice views of Tralee Bay if you are brave/foolish enough to take your eyes of the trail ahead of you!!!

This is a family friendly event as there will be a junior race (for 10-16 year olds) and an accompanied kids run for u10s. The junior race will be 4km and the kids race will be 2km.

Directions from Blennerville...
From Blennerville Bridge go towards Dingle on the N86, after 1.4k take the left turnoff signposted Clahane. Then the next right signposted Equestrian Centre. There is another right turn, then on up the hill to the Equestrian centre where there is parking in their yard. Then it is a short walk to start/reg area.

Tea/coffee/food afterwards at Skelper Quanes pub in Blennerville.

Notice...Glen of Aherlow Loop de Loop Half, Full & Ultra Marathon in Tipperary - Sat 17th Sept 2016

This event is coming up on Saturday the 17th of September in Co.Tipperary and there is a choice between a 13.1 mile half-marathon, 26.2 mile marathon and a 39.3 mile ultra-marathon.

The course is a 13.1 mile loop. You complete it once for the half, twice for the full and three times for the ultra.

From the organisers.......We are happy to roll out the 3rd edition of the Glen of Aherlow Loop de Loop Race.

The race start/finish this year will be in the village of Lisvernane in the Glen of Aherlow.

As with our other long distance races, sign up will include:
Hot showers afterward, Full meal, Tech Tee shirt and aid stations.
Route is fully marked and is chip timed.

This years race will be Sat 17th Sept 2016.
Ultra (3 loop) start 8am €60
Full Marathon (2 loop) start 10am €50
Half Marathon (1 loop) start 12noon €40

Results of the Ballyhoura Trail Marathon...Sat 30th Apr 2016

In 2015, the Ballyhoura Trail Marathon attracted a large field of 111 participants. This year, the format was changed with the introduction of a half-marathon and ultra-marathon as well.

28 took part in the 36 mile ultra, 63 in the full and 108 in the half giving a grand total of 199.

Event notice...MMRA Trail race in Co.Clare - Sun 2nd March 2014

The fourth and final race in the Munster Mountain Running Association Spring Trail Series is on next Sunday the 2nd of March. The 5 km race is on an aera known locally as the Twelve O'Clock Hills and is located roughly halfway between Sixmilebridge and Broadford in SE Clare...

From the MMRA...Our next event takes place on Sunday, 2nd March in Co. Clare in an area known as the 12 O'Clock Hills. The race starts at 12 noon and will be 5km in length, along a fully marked trail. Registration will be open from 11am-11.45am. The cost of entry is €10, with refreshments provided afterwards.
