Tipperary...Results of the Newport 10k - Sun 22nd May 2011

On Sunday 22nd May, 120 runners took part in the 2nd Annual Newport 10k Road race. The competition was very strong with runners from clubs such as West Limerick, Limerick, Thurles Croakes, Country Club, Dooneen , Dundrum, Thurles Croakes,Moy Carkey, Eagle, Clare Crusaiders, Roscrea, Limerick tri club amongst others.
First across the line was Michael Carmody of Limerick AC. Michael had no trouble breaking the course record by over 2 mins 11 secs and set the new record of 32.37. Followed in second place was Newport’s own Mike Yelverton and in 3rd position was Shane Mullaney of Thurles Croakes.
First home in the ladies category was Rosemary Ryan in a time of 35.36. Dympna Ryan came in second and in third position was Deirdre Finn.
