From West Limerick AC....We wish to thank all runners and running clubs for their great support on the day. The standard was of a very high quality with several county champions competing. A special mention to the winners of the ladies & men’s senior events, Niamh O’Sullivan & Colm Turner who both put on dazzling displays of cross country running.

A huge amount of work goes into the running of this event and this would not be possible without the great club members that West Limerick are lucky to have who gave their time freely & did a great job on the day. We also wish to thank those members of local clubs that helped out in any way. We would also like to thank Newcastle West Community Centre for the use of their facility before & afterwards. We especially wish to thank John Lenihan for presiding over events and hope he enjoyed the day.

Waterford...Results of the Ballybeg 6km race - Sat 5th Sept 2015

A total of 146 people turned out for this years Cill Barra/Ballybeg 6k Fun Run & Walk on Saturday the 5th of September 2015. That's down about 11% on the 164 of 215.

There was one interesting point in the results for the top 3 women. The 3rd place finisher actually ran the course six seconds faster than the woman that finished second. The problem however is that she started too far back and took 11 seconds to cross the start line. All results are determined on first across the finish line regardless of how long it takes for them to cross the start mat.

Kerry...Results of the Banna 5km & 10km race - Sun 2nd Aug 2015

Another race from the Kingdom last month and another drop in numbers. Between the 5k and 10k races, a total of 292 runners turned out which is very good for a race in Kerry. However, the numbers were down 24% on 2014.

The chart above shows the story for the last few year. Nice growth in 2012. Introduction of a 5k in 2013 which boosted overall numbers without taking from the 10k. Big jump in 5k numbers in 2014...and in 2015, a drop in both the 5k and 10k numbers. Reason?

Kerry...Results of the Rose of Tralee 10k - Sun 15th Aug 2015

Catching up on another result. There were big numbers for the Rose of Tralee 10k race again this year with 626 taking part. As 10k races go, this is exceptionally high, especially for Kerry. Despite this however, it does mark a 27% decline on the numbers of 2014. With an entry fee of €26.50, maybe it's a bit too expensive for some.
