It has just been announced that there will be a half marathon and marathon in Dingle, west Kerry on Saturday, the 12th of September. The highlights of the event are...- The full marathon (26.2 miles) starts and finishes in Dingle. The route takes in Ventry, Slea Head, Dunquin and Ballyferriter.
- The half marathon starts in Dingle, runs around Slea Head and finishes in Dunquin. Runners then return to Dingle by bus.
- The roads will be closed for the duration of the event.
The routes chosen are not easy. There are plenty of hills and drags so they are not really courses for setting fast times. However weather permitting, this will be quite simply be the most scenic race anywhere in the country. Prices...the entry fee is €60 which for a half marathon is very expensive.
