Waterford......Preview of the Ardmore 5 - Fri 13th Aug 2010

On Friday evening, we have the 15th annual An Tobar Ardmore 5 at 7.30pm

This will be the tenth and final race in the Ger Wyley Summer Series 2010.

Armore is a coastal village in West Waterford, and is a popular holiday destination. It can be reached via the R673 road, which links with the N25 road at two separate points.
Entry fee €8. An unusual feature of this race is that prizes will be awarded to the first man and first lady in each star sign.
"At West Waterford AC we like to spread around the prizes as much as possible and so this race has a different prize policy to other races. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female athletes and after that prizes will be awarded to the first male and female athletes in each of the star signs. When registering for the race, all athletes will be asked to declare their star sign and when the results are made out, the first female and male in each of the star signs will get a prize."

The course is about 1.5 laps of a triangular circuit. It's relatively flat, and one of the easier races in the series. It includes a small loop through the town, and passes near the Round Tower.

In 2009 this race attracted 238 runners, up from 198 in 2008.
Midleton AC are organizing a bus this year.

Registration and some parking available at the Ardmore GAA grounds, which is about half-ways between Ardmore and the Start line.
Note: The start line is further again away from the GAA grounds, so please be sure to arrive early.

Teas, soup and sandwiches and prizes-giving will be the large rear room of the An Tobar Bar, in the town centre.
