Notice...Glen of Aherlow Loop de Loop Half, Full & Ultra Marathon in Tipperary - Sat 16th Sept 2017

This event is coming up on Saturday the 16th of September 2017 in Lisvarrinane, Co.Tipperary and there is a choice between a 13.1 mile half-marathon, 26.2 mile marathon and a 39.3 mile ultra-marathon.

The route will be fully marked and entry includes a hot meal afterwards and a technical t-shirt.
***Note that places are limited and are expected to fill up fast.***

The course is a 13.1 mile loop. You complete it once for the half, twice for the full and three times for the ultra. The route is on a mixture of hiking trails, forest roads and quiet country roads, starting and finishing near Lisvarrinane.

Race registration, showers and food will be at the Village Hall in Lisvarrinane.

From the organisers.......We are happy to roll out the 4th edition of the Glen of Aherlow Loop de Loop Race.

The race start/finish will be in the village of Lisvarrinane in the Glen of Aherlow.

As with our other long distance races, sign up will include:
Hot showers afterward, full meal, technical t-shirt and aid stations.
Route is fully marked.

Half Marathon (1 loop)         start 12noon     €40 entry
 Full Marathon (2 loops)         start 10am         €50 entry
Ultra Marathon (3 loops)         start 8am         €60 entry

Tipperary...Results of the Loop de Loop Half-Marathon, Marathon & Ultra - Sat17th Sept 2016

There was a good turnout for 142 runners for this years Loop de Loop event in the Glen of Aherlow on Saturday the 17th of Sept 2016.

There were 13 in the 39.3 mile ultra, 34 in the 26.2 mile marathon and 95 in the 13.1 mile half-marathon. Weather conditions were nice and sunny.

Notice...Eddie Murphy Memorial Half-Marathon, Marathon & Ultra-Marathon, Sximilebridge, Co.Clare - Sun 15th Nov 2015

The annual Eddie Murphy Memorial Marathon is coming up in Sixmilebridge, Co.Clare on Sunday the 15th of November 2015.

There are a number of events on offer...
a) Half-Marathon...13.1 miles
b) Marathon...26.2 miles
c) Ultra-Marathon...30 miles
d) Double Marathon...52.4 miles.
e) Back to Back marathons...One on Saturday and one on Sunday.

From BMOH AC, the organisers of the event...Eddie Murphy Memorial...Entry fee will be €20 for Half Marathon, €30 Marathon, €35 for 30 Mile, €40 for Double Marathon and €50 for the back to back marathon. All money raised will be given to Charity (Milford Hospice in Limerick)

4 races, Half Marathon, Marathon, 30 mile and Double Marathon, all run on same 1 mile lap of village

Double Marathon start will be 07:00, headlights and hi viz vest will be compulsory
30 mile start will be 11:00
Marathon start will be 12:00
Half Marathon start will be 14.00

BMOH are proud hosts of the one of the most unique marathons in Europe which also includes Half marathon ,Marathon, 30 miles & Double marathon options all on the one mile loop with the infamous heart break hill to be tackled on each lap.

Due to tragic and ultimately passing of Eddie Murphy , BMOH AC hold a multi marathon event each November in Sixmilebridge in honour of Eddie which takes place on a unique one mile loop.

About Eddie Murphy: For those of us lucky enough to have known Eddie, he represented what endurance running is all about for many of us, Pushing towards new personal running goals while enjoying & making new friendships along the way.  Eddie, before his untimely Death in April, 2011, had completed over 45 marathons.The proceeds of the event are donated to Milford hospice in Limerick at the request of the Murphy family.

Results of the Eddie Murphy Memorial Marathon, 30 mile, Ultra...Sun 18th Nov 2012

Wet, cold and windy weather greeted the brave souls that turned out for this year's Eddie Murphy memorial races. This was the third year of this event with four races being run over the one mile course in the village of Sixmilebridge, Co.Clare.

While those undertaking the 52 mile double Marathon started in cold but dry conditions at 7am in the morning, the rain duly arrived around mid-day making conditions very difficult for all contestants.
