A word from the Organizers :-
The beautiful and historic Ormonde Castle in Carrick-on-Suir will be the setting for the start of this year's Carraig Hotel Deadman's 5 mile road race on Friday next, June 11th at 7:30pm. This year's 'Deadman's' is being run in conjunction with the Clancy Brothers' Festival, so there is sure to be plenty 'ceol agus craic' on the night.
The race proceeds along Carrick's main street and through the famous Sean Kelly Square before leaving the town to complete the Deadman's loop and finish back at the town park in Carrick.
Registration will take place at the Carrick Swans GAA Centre (beside the Library and Garda Station) from 6pm and parking will be available there also. The entry fee is €10 and you can enter online at www.runireland.com.
Chip timing will be used for this race.
Post-race refreshments and prize-giving will be at The Carraig Hotel.
This race is the first of four in the Outfield Sports Three-Counties Challenge, taking in races in the neighbouring counties of Kilkenny, Tipperary and Waterford. The second race will be the 'Champion Kiely' Ballyneale 5k on Friday, 2nd July followed by the Morris Oil Piltown 10k on July 16th. The series will conclude with the running of the Autopower Rathgormack 5 miles on August 6th.
All courses are accurately measured and there will be chip timing in use for all races.
This year's series boasts a prize fund in excess of €5,000 and there will be a quality running top for everyone who completes three of the races.
This series has quickly become well-established on the road race calendar, with increased numbers competing each year.
