Great race but that oil spill was deadly very slippy
congrats to all fantasic day
Great day but I agree with Mags;. That oil spill was pretty scary to run on. Due to its size, I don't know if anything could have been done about it on the day, other than to give the runners fair warning. Which didn't happen.
To be fair, I drove the course around 12.25 and there was no oil spill on the road. Must have just happened. Hard to see what could have been done in 30mins! Obviously I will still use it as an excuse to say i could have gone a few secs quicker if the road was less slippy and sans oil!! :-)
Oil spill in the lap of the gods-the race organisers drove the course at 12.45 for last minute check and there was no oil on the road.what can you do.
Had slippy runners on the oil spill did not stop me. However trying to wash it off back of my legs different story!! Brill race . Very fast course and chocolate biscuit cake.....i'll say no more.
Oil spots...washing up liquid and cotton wool I'm told works wonders! ;o)
Enjoyable race.Love running a race whereby you get a small bottle instead of cups allowing you to carry it for a while. Credit to the majority of runners who left the used bottles by the side of the road as recommended for ease of collection. Noted on at least 5 occasions, however, where runners launched the bottles over hedges into fields or into the river between 6.5 and 8 miles....these'll never be found let alone collected and therefore just add to the pollution.I understand now why some races organisers as a rule don't provide these handy bottles.
i have to say thanks to the 70 minute pacers brillant lads i never noticed the oil untill finished i was like a spotted zebra great day packie westlimerick
What a fantastic race. Lovely course, good stewarding, easy parking and delicious choccie cake afterwards. Heres a controversial comment - best 10miler in munster!
The bar has been set really high for other races to live up to this.Have to agree with other comments, what a superb event. I did hear stewards telling runners to keep right out of the oil spill to be fair to them. Baby oil and cotton wool will get rid of the oil, super fast with results also.
Mike
Fantastic day again in Dungarvan. Organisation is second to none I believe. Well done to all involved.
Brill race. Very well organised from start to finish! From entry to stewarding, to refreshments afterwards. Tend to agree with the "controversial comment" - best 10miler in munster! :) Tracey - Dooneen A.C.
Yet another amazing event organised by West Waterford AC. They set the standard for all other clubs in the country to follow. Pacers were fabulous this year. Lots of PBs yesterday as a result. Roll on 2013!
i ran a brutal race - my fault tho!!! no fault of what was a v well organised race for what was only 15 quid!!! didn't notice any oil spill myself. great value and puts those rip off half marathons and other races to shame. will be back next year
What a fantastic race. The organisation was outstanding. I also ran a brutal race but as the last poster said I have to look close to home for the reason. The brain said avoid the pacers and the body tried to beat them.!!! Oil spill was unfortunate but what can you do. For €15 it was exceptional value.Well done to all involved
Great race overall, couldn't believe there were people calling out times at every mile and one even at 10k. Wasn't even expecting a goodybag let alone a t-shirt for the price of the entry. Well done to WWAC
brilliant race, great fun and brilliant organisers- the best and most hospitable i've met.
the 15 euro entry fee highlights how ridiculous some of the commercial races fees are!
great nike dri-fit top, all you can eat food, very organised well marked race and even free photos being given out from 2011 race!!
well done to all at ww ac,great race,
great course even great running conditions(if you like a bit of rain).
Only thing the 75min pacers started
too slow more 8:20 pace leaving me too much to do at the end.
Still really enjoyed it and I will be back to run in the best "10 miler
in Munster"
