Results of the Munster Masters Road Championships...22nd March 2009
The Munster Masters Road Championships took place in Beaufort, Co.Kerry last Sunday on what was a lovely sunny day. The mens race took place over a 4 mile circuit while the women completed 2 miles.
The photo above shows the winner of the womens race Niamh O'Sullivan of An Riocht AC finishing. What's amazing is that despite the fact the course was only 2 miles long, there is no sign of the rest of the field in the long finishing straight behind.

The other event is the Plassey 10 km charity run in Limerick City on Saturday, the 21st of March at 11am. Note that this is more of a fun run than a serious race so the distance may not be exactly 10 kms. From what I hear, last year was a bit short so don't be too worried about your finish time.

Limerick...Results of the Adare 10 km road race - Sun 1st March 2009
I'm not exactly sure why but the numbers taking part this year have really increased. Last year, they got 219 entrants which is a pretty good number for a regional race. This year, they got 328 runners, an increase of almost 50% !! Getting an increase of 50% on a day when there are 2 other races in Munster is pretty amazing. Reason...???
Waterford...Results of the Dungarvan 10 km road race - Sun 1st March 2009
On Sunday the 1st of March, there were 3 road races in Munster....the Cork BHAA 5k in Cork City, the Adare 10k in Limerick and the Dungarvan 10k in West Waterford. Between the 3 races, almost 800 runners took part. That surely is a good sign for the sport of running in Munster at the moment.
For the 10km race in Dungarvan, 166 runners turned out on what was a bright sunny but windy day.
Race Report......they have a race report HERE
