Note : Even though the organisers had this event billed as a 'road race', I could find no evidence that that it had an Athletics Ireland licence or that it was actually measured properly.
This website contains information about some of the road races in the counties of Kerry, Limerick, Clare, Tipperary and Waterford in Munster, Ireland. For races in Cork, see the Running in Cork website which is the largest athletics website in Munster. That site also contains plenty of national and international news items as well.

Tipperary...Race notice for the Cahir Run4Fun 4 mile road race - Wed 1st May 2013
This 4 mile road race is coming up in Cahir, South Tipperary on Wednesday, the 1st of May 2013...
With it being so close to the M8 motorway, it should attract runners from a wide catchment area.
Directions...Cahir is located in the south of Tipperary, just off the M8 motorway from Cork to Dublin...
If you are coming from the motorway, follow all the signs for Cahir. This will take you into the centre of the town and this T-junction shown below. Cahir Castle is about 300m to your left but you need to turn right here and drive up the hill. The start line is outside Morrisons Garage which you will see on the left.
Course......The 4 mile race takes in a loop to the south and west of the town...
Race HQ is Morrisons Garage with the race starting and finishing just outside.
Notes from the organisers, Clonmel AC....This is an Open 4 Mile road race where we will have a select number of Prizes for the 1st 2 Senior men and Women as well as the 1st 2 Master men and Women. The novelty here is that we will have a Lucky Dip of Finishing positions where there will be a lot of Good Prizes allocated in an Open Draw on finishing positions during the race. This type of competition will see prizes allocated to athlete’s right down throughout the race. There will be a number of Cash Prizes including a prize of 100 Euros among all the Prizes. Also there will be a donation to South Tipperary Hospice for every athlete that completes the course, so the more participants, the more funds this very worthy cause will receive.
You can see a full preview of the course with photos HERE

Note from the organisers...Carrick on Suir AC...The first race of the outfieldsports.ie 3 Counties Challenge, organised by Carrick on Suir AC, was held in Faugheen on Friday night in sunny and blustery conditions and was won in style by Sandis Barlitis West Waterford AC in a time of 15:17. Kevin Moore from Dundrum AC finished a fine second, followed closely by Mick Traynor of Raheeny Shamrocks. Honours in the women's race went to local girl Martina O'Dwyer, with the Carrick athlete winning in 17:54, well ahead of Aine Roche (Clonmel AC) and Diane Behan (Waterford AC).
Overall the Race, in it's first running, was a great success with 213 Finishers, and the new course proved to be a big hit with the runners. Well done to all, particularly the large number of first time racers from the fit4life groups in Carrick, Callan and Clonmel.

Limerick...Results of the Jacinta O'Brien 10k - Sun 21st Apr 2013
It took a number of days for the results of this race to appear. They are possibly the worst set of results I have ever seen produced for any race.
This is the format that they were released in...
Race
Number Time
805 00:34:05.02
807 +00:00:28.98
761 +00:00:36.44
573 +00:01:13.52
200 +00:02:01.20
...etc
The person wearing 805 finished first in a time of 34m 05s. All the other results are listed with just the race number and the time behind the winner.
The problem with results like this is that many people will have thrown away their race bib by the time the results came out...in this case, three days later. People also like to see how they got on relative to other people they know and what times they did.
Producing basic results is a very simple process. It can be as simple as...
Position.........Name........Time.....
It costs nothing to do up a decent set of results, just someones time. The results that were released have all the hallmarks of someone who couldn't be bothered to make a half-decent effort.
Roughly 240 people paid €20 each to enter this event. They deserve to see a proper set of results. It was done in 2012, why not this year?

The series which was organised by Clonmel AC has been a great success with a record 358 people taking part in at least one of the races. That compares to 187 back in 2009, an increase of some 91%. Much of that growth can be attributed to more women taking part as their percentage of the overall total has gone from 23.5% in 2009 to 45.5% this year.

Race notice...Faugheen 5k road race, Tipperary - Fri 26th Apr 2013
The Seventh Annual 3 Counties Challenge gets underway on Friday, the 26th of April with the Faugheen 5k road race...
Directions.......Faugheen is a very small village located to the North of the town of Carrick-on-Suir in S.Tipperary. It is located less than a mile off the R697 road which goes from Carrick-on-Suir to Kilkenny.
If you arrive in Carrick-on-Suir then follow the N24 road. In the centre of the town at the Garda station, take the R697 north. This will be signposted for Kilmaganny.
Keep the park on your right hand side. You then need to take the left at this junction below. Again, it's signposted for Kilmaganny.
From the junction above, it's 3.3 miles / 5.3 kms to the tun off for Faugheen. Look for the left hand turn which is on a wide sweeping bend to the right...
From here, it's about 1 km to Faugheen. Follow the directions for parking.
Entries on the night will be taken at the parish hall which is located next to the church...
Course....The race route is in the shape of a triangle. This is the same route as used by the famous Faugheen 50 Motor bike circuit...
As you can see from the map above, it's basically 1.5 loops of a circuit which is just over two miles in length. The start line is located about 0.9 miles from the village itself, ideal as part of the warm up for the race itself.
A full preview of the course with directions and photos can be seen HERE
Post race refreshments and prize giving at Flemings Pub...
More info from the organisers Carrick Road Runners AC...
Carrick on Suir A.C.’s Outfieldsports.ie 3 Counties Challenge has firmly established itself in the South East Running Calendar since its inception in 2007, with the series growing from a single race with 100 runners to last year’s successful 4 race series with close on a thousand participants. One of the keys to their success has been the clubs ability to change and improve the series, and 2013 will continue that trend with a new race (Now making the 3 Counties Challenge a 5 Race series), a new venue and some new sponsors.
So Friday 26th April will see the First running of the Faugheen 5Km Road race, kindly sponsored by Bobby Fitzgerald Accountants. This flat course will be held on the famous Faugheen 50 Motor bike circuit in the pretty Tipperary village, and we are sure it will become a runner’s favourite very quickly.
Race start is 7:30 p.m. and registration will start from 6pm . However, you can avoid the queues by entering on line HERE. Entry fee is €10.00, but you can enter the 5 Race Series online for €45.00. Online Entry closes Thursday 25th April.
There will be ample parking in the village and Refreshments will be served in Flemings Pub after the Race. As with all Carrick on Suir A.C.'s races, the Race is AAI Permit approved, properly measured , well stewarded and will have the local Red Cross Ambulance in attendance. Looking forward to seeing our Running buddies next week.

Course...
The race starts and finishes outside the GAA grounds in the village. The first mile is a gradual climb before it flattens out and there is plenty of running on flat country roads to the village of Kilmurry. As you turn for home, you soon pass the 15th Century Mountcashel Castle. Near the 5 mile mark, you turn off right onto a narrower and quieter country road which has one or two pulls. As you approach the 6 mile mark, you have a very fast downhill finish to the 10k mark. For more information, visit www.sixmilebridge10k.com

Clare...Results of the Kilnaboy 10 mile road race - Sun 14th Apr 2013
The Kilnaboy 10 mile road race took place on Sunday, the 14th of April 2013 and attracted a field of just 107 runners. In comparison to previous years, this is a major drop and hasn't been this low since around 1998.
One obvious factor here of course was the demise of the Munster Ten-Mile Spring Classics Series. The Kilnaboy race was the last one of the four in the series and was a major factor in people traveling here.

Race notice...Butlerstown 10k road race - Fri 19th Apr 2013
The 31st annual Butlerstown 10k road race is coming up on Friday, the 10th of April 2012 at 7pm.
This is the second race of ten in the Ger Wyley Sports / SKINS Summer Race series.
Located on the western outskirts of Waterford City, this race is just off the N25 Cork/Dungarvan/Waterford road. If you are coming from the west then you can turn off at the roundabout on the N25 and follow the directions for Kilmeaden.
Stay on the R680 road and drive towards Waterford on what was the old Cork road. After a few kms, you will come to the Holy Cross Bar. Parking is available behind the bar or at the Butlerstown GAA grounds which is only 200 metres away. The entry fee is €10 and you enter at the GAA grounds.
The race course itself is basically in the shape of a square with each side roughly half a mile or 800 metres in length. To complete 10 kms, you will have to complete three loops. The start and finish is on the western part of the loop. This is a nice quiet road which has a very gentle slope from north to south.
The southern leg is inside a hard shoulder and is a gradual uphill to the roundabout. The eastern leg is on a footpath alongside the ring road and is a gradual downhill. The northern leg is by far the hardest. As you can see, it's named as Oliver's Hill for a reason! ;o) The is a good pull uphill for about the first 500 metres and you have to do this three times. It's the only really serious hill in the course.
A full preview of the course with photos can be seen HERE
