Michal Rejmer 5 mile in Limerick cancelled - Fri 26th Apr 2019
From the organiers...The Michal Rejmer Run committee have made the decision to postpone tonight's 5 mile run on the ground of the current weather warning. Winds of 70km/h are predicted between 6PM and midnight, and we feel that this is just too dangerous to go ahead with the event. We will postpone the race until a future date, to be announced shortly.

Notice : Tipperary Water 10k in Clonmel - Sun 12th May 2019
From Clonmel AC...Tipperary Water 10K Road Race – 12th May at 10.55am
This very popular fixture on the running calendar takes place on Sunday 12 th May at 10.50am. This year we are once again delighted to have Tipperary Water as our sponsors. This year’s event will have the same route as last year, which received great reviews, with the start at the carpark at the back of the Clonmel Arms Hotel on the Quay and the finish will be at the Sporting Press on the Davis Road.
This new course is relatively flat and ideal for a PB over this Classic distance. The Race Headquarters is at Colaiste Cheitinn, the Mall and we will be taking entries there from 9 am onwards.
The entry fee is 15 Euros and this year we have designed a special medallion for this event.
For this event please note that there are Road Closures in place and we appreciate the cooperation of the public, especially in the Irishtown area.
Last year’s race attracted a very impressive entry of 302 athletes, the winner was William Maunsell Clonmel AC in 31 mins 1 sec, 2 nd David Mansfield Clonmel AC in 31 mins 43 secs, 3 rd was William Stephens Coolquill AC in 32 mins 56 secs.
The top three women were 1 st Grace Reilly of Portlaoise AC in 39 mins 37 secs, great running. Then we had Aine Roche of Clonmel AC also running very well when finishing 2 nd in 41 mins 17 secs with her club mate Anne Marie Boland finishing 3 rd in 43 mins 7 secs.
This year we have an extensive prize list to the value of 1500 Euros and they are as follows:
1st 5 Senior Men, 1st 2 Men over 40, 45, 50 and 55, 1st Man over 60, 65 and 70, 1st 5 Senior Women, 1st 2 Women over 35, 40, 45, 50 and 1st Woman over 55, 60 and 65.
We will also have Spot prizes for down the field finishers.
As regards entries we would appreciate it very much if local participants can come early on Sunday morning and register and help ease the rush as we get closer to the Start time. This would help athletes who have travelled a distance to enter at their ease.
This year’s race will be chip timed and results will be posted on www.premiertimingsystems.ie

The Club would again like to thank Gary Morrison and Morrison BMW Cahir for sponsoring this year’s series.

Kerry : Results of the Castleisland 10 mile & 5k - Sun 14th Apr 2019
Despite the wet and windy weather, the numbers were up for this years Kingdom Come 10 mile and 5 k road race. As can be seen below, the 10 mile numbers at 220 were the second highest to date.
What's even more remarkable was how well the race did despite the sheer number of races that were clashing with it. There were other 10 milers on the same day in Dromina, Co Cork, Kilnaboy in Co Clare and Killea in Co Tipperary and that's not even counting the glut of other races in Munster.
It was probably the busiest day of 2019 so far for races in Munster.

Tipperary : Results of the Clonmel 6k race - Wed 10th Apr 2019
From Clonmel AC..... The 2nd race of this very popular series took place tonight in ideal running conditions, mild and athletes had no strong breeze to contend with up the back road. Changing conditions meant athletes had to decide whether to stay close to last week’s actual time or set a new target to beat, tough decision. Once again, we had a very competitive race.
This time Jimmy Boland went to the front and soon had the entire field in Indian file as he led them down the Waterford road. Over a familiar route he kept that strong pace going to come home a very worthy winner in 19 mins 45 secs, great running. Then we had Nigel O Flaherty of the Lucky Dip team finishing 2nd in 21 mins 45 secs with his team mate Brian Carroll 3rd in 22 mins 21 secs. Colm McCarthy of The Regular Blues was 4th in 22 mins 23 secs with Dermot Logue of IP Physical Therapy E 5th in 22 mins 26 secs and Patrick Roche of James Sullivan Running Technique 6th in 22 mins 35 secs.
The Women’s race was also very competitive, here we had Dympna Ryan of Where is the Finish 1st in 22 mins 40 secs with Angela McCann 2nd in 22 mins 51 secs, Linda Grogan 3rd in 23 mins 20 secs, 4th was Ali O Connor of O Reilly Pharmacy in 24 mins 52 secs with Suzanne Shine of In it to win it 5th in 25 mins and 6th was Anne Marie Boland in 25 mins 17 secs Great running all round.
The team event is hotting up in all four Divisions and it is still all to play for on the final race of the League next Wednesday night. To give all teams an incentive to finish the League off in style we will also be giving a team Prize for the lowest score team, based solely on next week’s performances. That means that we will give a team prize to the team in each Division that score the lowest score in next week’s race outside of this Prize list – the 1st 4 team in Division One, the 1st 3 team in Division Two, Three and Four. So, all to run for.
Please note that the Presentation of Prizes will take place in Mulcahy’s Gladstone Street on Wednesday night 24th April at 9pm.
Once again, the Club would like to thank Morrison BMW Cahir for sponsoring this year’s series of races. The Club would also like to thank the ETB for the use of Colaiste Cheitinn for our race headquarters, thanks also to the Gardai and the Civil Defence and to our many stewards and officials who ensured that the whole event was a brilliant success.

Notice : Castleisland 10 mile race & 5k run in Co Kerry - Sun 14th Apr 2019
The annual 10 mile road race & 5km run in Castleisland, Co.Kerry is coming up on Sunday the 14th of April 2019.
Entries >> You can enter online HERE
The 10 mile race costs €25 while the 5k race costs €11.50.
Please note that the 10 mile race starts at 11am with the 5k race starting 15 minutes earlier at 10:45am.
Considering its location, it is sure to attract a lot of runners from Kerry, west Limerick and the general west Munster region. Castleisland is only a short distance from Killarney and Tralee and the race should be of particular interest to runners there.
This race is organised by An RÃocht Athletic Club, one of the major clubs in the county.
You can enter and find a lot more info on the race website... http://castleisland10mile.wordpress.com/
It's worth mentioning also that money raised from the road race will be used for maintenance of the outdoor track in Castleisland. It is the ONLY 400 metre track in Kerry and is used by athletes from clubs in Kerry and west Limerick. If children are going to be involved in the sport then they need access to proper local facilities like this. Perhaps for that reason alone, this race is worth supporting.
Previews....A preview of the new 10 mile course is up on the race website. The 5 km course is HERE

Notice : Clonmel AC 6K Road Race Series - Wed 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th Apr 2019
Clonmel AC 6K Road Race Series...The Club is once again promoting the Clonmel AC 6K Road Race Series sponsored by Morrison Mini, Cahir. The Club would like to thank Morrison Motors of Cahir and especially Gary Morrison for their very generous sponsorship.
This year we have to curtail the number of races to just 4 races due to Health and Safety as Summer time doesn’t happen until 30th March. This year’s dates are Wednesday 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th April with the race starting each night at 7pm SHARP.
There won’t be any PRACTISE RUN this year, the Route is the same as last year. The Entry fee is 20 Euros per athlete for the 4-race series.
The route is as follows: The Race starts close to the Lidl carpark on the Waterford Road, the athletes run all the way down to Ferryhouse Roundabout, turning right there and right again after Sir Thomas’s Bridge and back to the Loreto Convent entrance via Kilganey and the Coleville Road.
We would ask all athletes to refrain from blocking up the entrance to LIDL and keep the main road free to traffic prior to each race.
Colaiste Cheitinn, the Mall is the race headquarters for each race and numbers can be collected there from 5.45 pm on all the nights.
Now is the time to be organising your team of five athletes with the best three performances (athletes who are closest to their Predictions) to count each night. Teams can be a combination of females and males, work colleagues and friends.
The three races on April 3rd, 10th and 17th will see athletes predict their time each night when they enter and collect their number. They must then run the course without a watch or IPods. If an athlete is caught wearing a watch or IPod, their team will be penalised.
This sort of competition allows every athlete to set their own pace and regardless of where they finish in the race, they can all help their team to win the competition.
This is an event where you the athlete set the target, you decide every night what your finishing time is and then you must run as close to that time to help your team. For instance, you could predict 30 mins for the 6k and then run the race in 30 mins 1 second and you score one point for your team. Then you have another athlete on your team who predicts his finishing time as 21 mins and runs the race in 21 mins 31 secs, he scores 31 points for the team. The three athletes that score the lowest points will count on your team, it is not based on your finishing position it is based on your time and what you predicted.
The Lucky Dip will take place on Wednesday 24th April.
The Presentation of Prizes will take place in Mulcahy’s; Gladstone Street on Wednesday 24th April at 9pm where refreshments and music will be provided, this was a brilliant night last year.
The route can be seen at http://munsterraceroutes.blogspot.ie/2013/02/tipperary001.html
