Report from Clonmel AC...The St Stephen's Day 4 miler took place in good conditions with little breeze and good temperatures. The pace was fast from the start and Kevin Cooper of Ferrybank made his debut performance in this very popular race a winning one when coming home� a very convincing winner in 19 mins 9 secs, brilliant piece of front running, moving well clear over the Closing stages. Then we had former winner Sergio Ciobanu of Clonliffe Harriers also running very well when finishing 2nd in 19 mins 16 secs. Dermot Cummins of West Waterford also ran well when finishing 3rd in 19 mins 28 secs with local favourite Niall McCormack finishing a good 4th in 19 mins 29 secs and Kenneth Rodgers of St John's Clare finishing 5th in 19 mins 34 secs.
In the Master categories the winners were 1st 0/40 William O Dwyer Dundrum AC 21 mins 22 secs, 2nd 0/40 David Ryan Clonmel AC 21 mins 32 secs, 1st 0/45 Tom Blackburn Moore Abbey Milers AC 22 mins 33 secs, 2nd 0/45 Pat Ryan Dundrum AC 22 mins 42 secs, 1st 0/50 Bernard Feery Fethard AC 23 mins 44 secs, 2nd 0/50 Joe Keeney Coolquill AC 25 mins 19 secs, 1st 0/55 Billy Prout Clonmel AC 26 mins 11 secs, 1st 0/60 Ned O Brien Clonmel AC 28 mins 10 secs, 1st 0/65 Eamon Crowley Clonmel AC 33 mins 49 secs, 1st 0/70 Myles McHugh Clonmel AC 32 mins 27 secs, 1st 0/75 Pierse Purcell Clonmel AC 49 mins 30 secs. The top 3 Junior men were 1st Darren Dunne Nenagh Olympic 20 mins 41 secs, 2nd Patrick Cleary Clonmel AC 23 mins 52 secs and 3rd Zach Anderson Clonmel 24 mins 47 secs.
In the Ladies race we had Siobhain O Doherty of Borrisokane showing that she has recovered well from helping the Irish Ladies team win European bronze medals at the recent Cross Country Championship in Bulgaria. Siobhain ran well when coming home a clear winner when 16th overall to win in 22 mins 17 secs. Then we had Laura Tobin of Clonmel coming through strongly over the closing stages to finish 2nd in a very good time and a PB for the distance when recording 24 mins 20 secs. Then we had Grace McConnell of Abbeyleix finishing 3rd in 24 mins 22 secs with Aine Roche of Clonmel 4th in 25 mins 8 secs and Dymphna Ryan of Dundrum AC 5th in 25 mins 27 secs.
In the Master Ladies categories the winners were:1st 0/35 Rebecca Doocey Clonmel AC 26 mins 38 secs, 2nd 0/35 Tracy Culleton Ballynonty AC 27 mins 11 secs, 3rd 0/35 Helen Fitzgerald Cahir 27 mins 47 secs, 1st 0/40 Angel McCann Clonmel AC 25 mins 6 secs, 2nd 0/40 Orla Fleming Clonmel AC 27 mins 7 secs, 1st 0/45 Helen O Ceallaigh Clonmel AC 31 mins 28 secs, 1st 0/50 Mary Mulcahy St Finbarrs AC 29 mins 56 secs,1st 0/55 Marian Hughes Thurles Crokes AC 34 mins 10 secs, 1st 0/60 Hazel Stapleton Clonmel 39 mins 28 secs. The top two Junior Ladies were Aoife Laste Clonmel Ac in a fine time of 25 mins 1 sec, a PB and 2nd was Emma Durand of Clonmel AC also setting a PB when finishing in 27 mins 57 secs.
The Club Chairman, Frank Lynch, thanked everyone for making this event a very successful one, he paid special mention to the Gardai, the Civil Defence, the Gael Cholaiste Cheitinn committee for the use of their fine facilities and our Social committee who looked after the Post Race Refreshments as well as our many stewards and officials who looked after the entries.

Thanks to all the involved in the Clonmel '4' miler really enjoyable and the weather even cleared as we were about to start. Another enjoyable race organised by Clonmel AC.
