Guest Post: Entries Flooding in for the 40th Coillte 10k Road Race in Dundrum, Tipperary

From Dundrum AC... Niamh O'Mahony from the An Riocht club in Kerry promoting this years Coillte 10k road race to be run for the 40th consecutive year in Dundrum on Wednesday 2nd July at 8pm.The US based scholarship athlete was a clear winner of the women's section at last years race in a excellent time of 34 minutes 46 seconds.

Forty years, four decades, four national records Wednesday the 2nd of July at 8pm the Coillte 10k Road Race in Dundrum Co Tipperary will be run for the 40th consecutive year by the local Dundrum Club.

With two weeks to go to race date entries are flooding in so intended runners should get their entry in now to be sure of receiving the specially Embroidered Souvenir Hand Towel to be collected from 6pm on the evening of the race along with your race number at race HQ Dundrum Community Hall E34 EY28.

This year the club has once again linked up with Niall O’Sullivan’s Premier Timing Systems for entries and result data to manage the ever-increasing numbers of runners every year.

Entries are online via the link https://eventmaster.ie/event/67A1sEpT5G. The club would appreciate it if participants could enter at least a week or two before the race date. Early entry gives the organizers an idea of the number of embroidered dated towels required, plus the food requirements for the big spread afterwards. Also, it is a big help to Niall for him to get to work on his system early.

This year’s official race starter is Dominic Moore. The Rosmult man who competed with his native Upperchurch, Moyne and Dundrum in his day has maintained his connection with the race over the years through his donation of the Tim Crowe trophy for the first Tipperary athlete over the finish line. Dominic finished third in the very first 10k back in 1986 so forty years later it is appropriate that Dominic should blow the whistle to set the athletes on their way.

For an excellent guided tour of the course road by road Google the Running in Munster Ireland Website... https://munsterrunning.blogspot.com/2025/06/notice-coillte-10k-road-race-dundrum.html

Michael Hassett St Catherines has the best number of men’s victories with six wins. While in the women’s race Siobhan O’Doherty Borrisokane is in a class of her own with twelve wins.

The following are all the winners since the event first ran in 1986.
